2016 Akron Race for the Cure
Akron’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
Carrying on tradition, our pros in Cleveland assisted in loading and transporting all of the equipment and materials for set up for the 2016 Akron Race for the Cure! This years’ race takes place this Saturday, July 23rd at Canal Park in Downtown Akron. The forecast is sunny and dry, but HOT! With a heat advisory in effect, all participants will be under a watchful eye with extra attention to cooling stations and hydration.
The team at Susan G Komen Northeast Ohio is incredibly inspiring, and always a pleasure to work with. While their annual events garner strong support from the local community, they are truly fighting the good fight all year through. Komenneo.org sites an impressive statistic – The 1980 survival rate for breast cancer patients was 74% – Today with advancements in research and medical technology, that 5 year survival rate has grown to 99%. This is credited to the continued support and advancements made possible by survivors, donors, race participants and the entire team at Susan G. Komen.
2016 Akron Race for the Cure Events
Having the insiders view of everything that goes into preparing for and hosting a successful race is humbling! The small but mighty team at Komen Northeast Ohio has less than 24 hours to make the magic happen before racers and supporters arrive Saturday morning. A time lapse video would be exhausting, to say the least!
Registration tables, signage and banners galore are at the top of the task list today – With record breaking temperatures and a tight timeline keeping the pressure on.
It’s not to late to register! Racers can register today at Canal Park Stadium from 3PM-7PM or the morning of the race.
