What is the Cleveland Marathon?

The Cleveland Marathon is an annual race that takes place in Cleveland, Ohio. It began in 1978 to bring positivity to a city that was facing a severe blizzard.

Originally, the race focused on providing a fun activity for locals and promoting fitness education. As the years went on, the event started attracting participants from across the country and beyond. The establishment of 501(c)3 Cleveland Marathon Charities in 2007 solidified the organization’s commitment to local charities.

Social media is changing the way real-life interactions occur and how neighbors/friends interact with each other. Meeting new neighbors is harder than ever. The consistent change of times and social media are not making it easier. 

Without that initial greeting, how are you supposed to get to know your new neighbors? Moving over the course of a couple of days, most neighbors are going to see something going on and will be curious. Maybe someone will stop by or say high, but most will watch from a distance. In the world today, no one wants to bother each other and keep their distance. When this is the case, putting the introduction on yourself is the most important. No one wants to seem annoying or intruding but you also don’t want to seem unfriendly. What is the best way to introduce yourself to your new neighbors?

Finding the right moment to introduce yourself can make a difference as well. When neighbors are outside and they aren’t in the middle of something that would be inconvenient to interrupt, then go an approach them with a friendly introduction. If they seem busy, and they do catch your attention throw a wave or smile at them to show you care and are open to meeting as well. Try to do everything outside casually for both neighbors to feel comfortable. If after a week or so and there still hasn’t been a good opportune time to meet your neighbors outside. When you feel comfortable go ahead and think about knocking on their door.

7 Decluttering Tips Before Moving Your Home – The Preparation

When you think about the number of things you have to do to arrange the move, the process may seem overwhelming. Thankfully, you can do a few things in advance to make it much easier.

Of course, a move is never a walk in the park. However, you can simplify it tremendously by doing some decluttering work. Proper decluttering is the key to a fun move. However, it may be psychologically tough.

About Move For Hunger

Move for Hunger is an incredible program that aims to rescue food from the trash dump, and instead re-allocate it to those in need in our communities. As part of the Move for Hunger program, our team works tirelessly with our clients and communities to rescue food! Whether it’s food that would normally end up in the trash on moving day, or proceeds from a food drive, gathering and transporting it for meaningful impact is our number one goal!

As a result of a HUGE food rescue following the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon and the Akron Race for the Cure, we were again recognized as the 2018 Mover of the Year! It goes without saying that we simply could not compete and have an impact without thoughtful, generous community support.

The 2018 Impact

In 2018, Moving Ahead Services rescued 8,597 pounds of food! This provided over 7,000 meals to individuals in need. As part of the semi-annual Stevens Worldwide Van Lines Conference in gorgeous sunny Florida, we were presented with this incredible recognition.

Just a Reminder this ‘Moving Season’

The Move for Hunger program goes a long way to impact our communities. For each of our offices, we are able to collect and distribute thousands of pounds of food each year! While food drives are a definite help, the real impact is from customers like YOU! Donating your food when you move is the easiest way to help us help those in need.

Move for Hunger is a non profit initiative that helps coordinate donation and volunteer services for over 1,000 relocation companies in the US and Canada. As part of the program, Move For Hunger has collected and distributed 10 million pounds of food! Since 2009, Move For Hunger has provided the equivalent of 8 million meals to those in need.

How the Move for Hunger Program Works

Move for hunger programThe best part about the Move for Hunger program is that it is EASY and makes your life EASIER! We try to make it as simple as possible!

If you are moving, we provide you a box (or boxes) to toss any non-perishable food items into to. In many cases, these items would go into the trash! This is a way to prevent throwing out good food and getting it to those in need through local food pantries and more.

The day of your move we seal up your Move For Hunger box and deliver it to a local organization. In Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cincinnati we have developed a great network of organizations that rely on donations to help community members. These organizations also provide us the opportunity to aid in food drives, deliveries, events and more.
