Holiday Food Drive Recap

The Results Are In – Drumroll Please!

Food drive totals were incredible! Our offices collected a total of 1,600 pounds of food for United Way. Despite all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we truly had the best support.  Our customers, neighbors, family, friends and team all came through to donate! We couldn’t be more grateful, and are so proud to have such wonderful communities to call home.  For our first official food drive, we’d say it was a great success!

In the first week, we collected about 580 pounds of food!  Much of this was in large part to our generous customers, as part of the Move for Hunger program.  As a Move for Hunger partner, our team reminds each of our customers that we collect food they would dispose of.  Any non-perishable items from cupboards, pantries and the likes are loaded into a Move for Hunger box during move day.  This has allowed us to collect and donate hundreds of pounds of food, most of which would have gone to waste!  Moving is busy and often overwhelming, this allows an easy way to donate without the hassle!

The Final Stretch – Food Drive Wrap Up

In the final week of the food drive, we had community drop offs, our neighbors donated, customers continued to contribute and our teams and their families also donated. Every single donation counts! 1 can of food from 30 people certainly adds up. We had boxes upon boxes of canned goods, PB&J, formula and more.  It was powerful to see it all in one place!

Our drop off at United Way was welcomed with applause and true appreciation.  While hunger in Ohio is an ongoing issue throughout the year, the holidays can be especially taxing.  Food pantries are tasked with feeding more people than ever, and children aren’t receiving school lunches – Adding to the long list of those in need.

A Little Friendly Competition

In the spirit of the season, we decided to make our Holiday food drive as motivating as possible! We challenged our teams in Cleveland and Columbus, as well as offering a top collection incentive and a lunch party. While the totals were close, our Cleveland office came out with the big WIN! Ron, a member of our team in Cleveland, was recognized for collecting over 300 pounds of food from customers!

Providence House Deck the House 2016

Deck The House 2016

Providence House Deck the House 2016 was a great even all around! Hosted last week at Cleveland Browns Stadium, the event features live entertainment and more. This has become the unofficial start of our holiday season at Moving Ahead Services! The atmosphere could not have been more festive, the auction items were great. There were more holiday trees than ever before! Our crews packed, wrapped, moved and delivered 19 trees this year!

Providence House Deck the House 2016

In Cleveland and beyond, Providence House is recognized as one of the largest crisis nurseries in existence.  Serving children and their families in times of need, Providence House provides various care.  From clothing to shelter, food, medical attention, education and interaction and more. It’s truly an asset to our community.

The Annual Deck the House fundraiser is their largest event. Featuring local Cleveland Browns players, and a diverse guest list. Event goers dine on great food and shop the auction items and direct Providence House fundraiser initiatives.

Our Role in the Event

For the last several years, Moving Ahead Services has volunteered time and resources to Deck the House. Our team wraps, packs, transports, stores and delivers the trees to auction winners.  Each holiday tree is decorated in a different theme, and auction bidding commences shortly after the event begins.  Winners enjoy their evening, and our crews are hard at work as soon as the event ends.  Many of us were on site this year, attending the event and coordinating the moving services. Providence House Deck the House 2016 was one of the largest we have seen, and we couldn’t be happier for them!

Move For Hunger Mover of the Year

Moving Ahead Services Named Move For Hunger Van Line Partner – Mover of the Year

Move For Hunger Mover of the YearThe Move for Hunger Mover of the Year announcement and award presentation came at the 2016 Stevens Worldwide Van Lines Conference in San Diego earlier this month.  We are incredibly humbled and excited by this recognition! We are also incredibly grateful for our generous customers and communities – as well as our hard working, dedicated team.

The Move For Hunger Mover of the Year Award

Each year, the award is presented to an affiliate of a Move For Hunger van line.  The awards recognize efforts to promote food collection, hunger relief and overall program engagement.  In addition to the total amount of food donated, a variety of factors are taken into consideration.

    • Quantity of food donations
    • Frequency and consistency
    • Event and drive participation
    • Fundraising efforts
    • Move For Hunger cross promotion
    • Membership and overall participation

This award is made possible because of our generous, thoughtful customers and consistent efforts by our team members to go above and beyond to make sure food is not wasted on ANY move!

A Brief History: Over 3,000 Life Saving Meals

Since kicking off with Move for Hunger in 2014, Moving Ahead Services customers and employees have consistently donated and participated in food collection efforts across our communities.  This has amounted to over 3,600 pounds of food collected and distributed to food banks, pantries and similar organizations across northeast and central Ohio.  This equates to over 3,000 meals for those in need!

While the amount in itself is impressive, we are also proud and grateful for the continued, consistent donations.

Stay tuned in the future, we are excited to further our partnership and participation with Move for Hunger – Including drives, events and more.

Make Your Move Matter

Move for Hunger is a 501(c)3 non profit organization.  As a partner, Moving Ahead Services will arrange and deliver your food donations throughout your move (and throughout the year!).

Moving can often lead to pantry items and non-perishables getting tossed in the trash, and these donations provide meals for those desperately in need in our communities.  Donate your food when you move!

Call us today for information on food donation, getting your business involved in Move For Hunger, assistance during a food drive and more. We are here to help!

Thank you to the amazing Move For Hunger Team, we appreciate all that you do!

Moving Ahead Services Video

Fast Track 50 2016 Video

Moving Ahead Services video for Fast Track 50 is complete!  As a Fast Track 50 Emerging Business finalist this year, we had the chance to sit down and talk about 2016, our company, services and culture.  The drone footage is incredible, compliments of Fraser Video Productions!

Moving Ahead Services Video Highlights

On a recent commercial move in Mentor, Fraser was able to capture some great shots! Even the weather cooperated, and our team was hard at work.  The video also features some footage from a residential move, as well as an inside peak to our culture.

Check out the overview of our key focus areas in 2016:

  • Long Distance Moving
  • Commercial and Office Moves
  • Storage

Becoming an established, reputable service provider can be difficult in our industry.  For us, quality is always the number one focus.  This has allowed us to grow and dive in on the most challenging aspects of relocation.

Long Distance Moving: An Art, Not a Science

Every single distance move is different from the last.  Having attention to detail and trusted team members allows us to accommodate any request. When all of your worldly possessions are getting packed into a truck, it better be a service provider you can trust! For customers moving into or out of Ohio, trust your move to the best.

Commercial and Business Office Moves

Strategically moving a business takes an experienced partner.  Coordinating schedules, timelines, tasks and executing the move is a delicate dance.  In 2016, our commercial moving division successfully executed a variety of moves for businesses all over Ohio. In house services and detailed planning allow us to bid competitively, deliver completely and provide the most efficient relocation solutions.

Our Culture

As Paul can attest to, Moving Ahead Services is a great place to work.  The team mentality is clear every single day, and our individual strengths allow us to truly make a difference.  Empowering our employees, trying new strategies and open communication are the core of our team.

United Way Feed Lake County Drive – Help Us Help Others!

UWLC Donation Totals for October

United Way Feed Lake County drive may not officially kick off until March, but donations are welcome all year through! This week along with Quaker Steak and Lube, we donated a combined total of food for 790 meals! Our team and generous customer donations generated over 750 pounds of food alone. This is incredible, and we have no plans of slowing down!

Give Where You Live – Why Businesses Can Make a BIG Difference

United Way Feed Lake CountyAs with many charitable efforts, a single individual is powerful – But a group of powerful individuals can change the world. For businesses large and small, putting your resources to work in your community can have a substantial impact! The United Way Feed Lake County program is the perfect example.

Prior to being affiliated with Move For Hunger, Moving Ahead Services would simply offer to donate any discarded items during a residential or business move. While well intended, these initiatives can often fall through the cracks of our busy everyday lives.
Since becoming part of the Move for Hunger team, our affiliate network and efforts have grown exponentially! Getting the message out, cross promoting and motivating with the proper information and organization can make all of the difference in the world. Put your business to work for your community!

Making a Difference with help from Moving Ahead Services

In addition to our customer and our team efforts, we also provide a variety of organizations assistance during their donation drives. Working with businesses in Northeast Ohio and Columbus, Moving Ahead Services will donate time and materials to aid in transporting donations and/or packing items for distribution. Just give us a call and ask! We have helped multiple businesses this year, that otherwise didn’t have access to the resources or relationships to successfully host, collect and transport drive items.

For more information on how you can help United Way Feed Lake County or join the Move for Hunger Network, give us a call! 440-256-2224.

GO Tribe – Saturday Progressive Field Move

The World Series in Cleveland

A Progressive Field move this past Saturday was a quick and fun way to be involved in all of the preparation for this weeks’ events. In all of the excitement of the World Series and games 1 and 2 in Cleveland, it is incredible how so many organizations come together to support the influx of traffic and events in the city.  We are excited to be a part of the festivities!

Moving Labor for the Tribe events – Progressive Field Move

Even outside of game days, it’s easy to see where Cleveland is just buzzing with fans and support.  Downtown Saturday morning was a great example!  The stadium was empty, but packed with anticipation for last nights’ 6-0 GAME 1! Game 2 may be met with rain today, but that won’t put a lid on Cleveland pride.

In addition to some great action shots, we got an incredible opportunity to see the field outside of a game day rush. While unloading event supplies like tables and chairs may not have been glamorous, the million dollar views were!  History is being made in Cleveland and it’s nearly impossible not to take notice.  We are grateful for the opportunity!

Labor Services for Residential and More

Our moving labor services are a great fit for a variety of scenarios.  Residential customers use moving labor help to load unload DIY trucks like Uhauls and Penskes, PODs and more.  The loading process in particular is very important, ensuring items get packed properly and do not shift during the moving process.  Instead of planning for a DIY move, labor help can save a ton of time in the long run!

For business customers, our labor services are often called upon for events, temporary relocations, and during commercial moving plans. What our experienced pros can accomplish in a few hours is pretty impressive!
