Donated Bikes delivered by MAS

Donated Bikes and Christmas Cheer!

‘Twas a Thursday afternoon, the week before Christmas and we got the fantastic phone call that Mr. Joe Longo was donating 20 bikes for Northeast Ohio kids in the Asa’s Angels gift program! With some help from 3 of our Cleveland movers, a 26 foot truck, Mr Longo and the great folks at the store, we were able to get all 20 bikes loaded and delivered to Asa and her team. Mr. Longo generously donated bikes in 2014 also, and was excited to do so again this year.  THANK YOU for your kindness! It was a privilege to be able to help with pick up and delivery.

When we pulled up, Asa and her elves were excited to see the donations.  The biggest question was where to put them all until the pick up dates were scheduled!  It all worked out, and 20 kids will get their wish for a Christmas bike from Santa. What a great way to start out the week before the holiday!

Deck the House 2015!

‘Tis the Season – Deck the House 2015 for Providence House

The 20th annual Deck the House by Providence House event was a great success last night at Cleveland Browns First Energy Stadium!  Hearing from Natalie, Joe Thomas and all of the other amazing supporters is always inspiring year after year. The auction items were amazing, the food was delicious and holiday cheer was everywhere!

unnamed-2For unnamedthe last several years, our pro Cleveland movers have helped out at Deck the House, providing supplies, packing services and transportation services for all of the auctioned Christmas trees.  The event hosts provide the trees, and area organizations do the decorating – The results are incredible, and the trees are auctioned off to the highest bidders.

How to pack a Christmas Tree This is the million dollar question! In the first year, packing and loading the trees seemed quite intimidating in the beginning.  These are not your average trees and decorations – Professional coordination and extravagant designs can include unique items, like champagne glasses in the ‘Clink’ tree above – Full size faux animals, giant bulbs and much more.  The Deck the House trees are typically large and full, with some requiring multiple team members to participate in the packing alone!

Now we have it down to a science, and are able to get the trees wrapped and loaded quickly and safely.  Deck the House auction winners arrange for their delivery, and before long their new tree is delivered and ready to be enjoyed.

Providence House, A Crisis Nursery The amazing team at Providence House is great to work with the entire year through!  The efforts and individuals that Providence House embodies are truly amazing.  We are incredibly lucky to have them in our Cleveland community, and we look forward to continuing to work with them for the years to come! Moving Ahead Named Mover of the Month!

Mover of the Month

Move for Hunger just Announced their June Mover of the Month! We are incredibly grateful for the nod, and love working with the Move For Hunger team and our local food distribution facilities.  It is a great way to give back to the community, while reducing food waste across Ohio.

Prior to starting with Move for Hunger, Moving Ahead would gather food donations from time to time to take to local food pantries and distribution centers.  Overall, it was relatively sporadic and really needed the direction and organization from the pros! Couple that with some friendly competition between our offices, and Move For Hunger seems to be the perfect match.

Customers, employees and our community are all benefitting from the Move for Hunger program.  For our customers, they are able to clean out cupboards and pantries prior to their move, without having to throw anything away!  For our employees, the involvement with both our customers and with all of the great individuals at the Dublin Food Pantry and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank has truly produced a sense of compassion and pride across the entire company.  Couple that with the guidance and support of the Move for Hunger team, and the sky is the limit!

In June, our customers donated 470 pounds of food – translating to 392 meals for those in need! Since starting the program in 2015, Moving Ahead Services has been able to collect and donate over 1,000 pounds of food.

For moving companies and realtors – Move for Hunger is a great way to help the community in a variety of ways.  For more information, visit the Move for Hunger website – or give them a call!

April Totals are in – Move For Hunger

Move for Hunger

The totals are in and we are excited! In the month of April, both the Moving Ahead Services’ Cleveland office and Columbus office collected a total of 350 pounds of food for local food pantries / distribution centers! All of us at Moving Ahead want to give a huge thank you to our kind, giving customers, and our hardworking crews in the field! Thank you for your hard work, donations and generosity!

With the busy moving months in full gear, this number will continue to climb throughout summer – and we couldn’t be happier to work with Move for Hunger!  With a little friendly competition between our offices, our Cleveland and Columbus movers are more motivated than ever to ensure that each and every scheduled move includes all of the details about Move for Hunger. Currently, the Cleveland office is collecting donations that are then monthly dropped off at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.  Our Cleveland Movers collect the donations throughout the month, and then we coordinate delivery to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank at the end of each month.  Similarly for Columbus, our Columbus office collects all month long and then coordinates delivery to the Dublin Food Pantry!

While not every moving customer will have food to donate, those that do enable us to provide local families and individuals in our communities with much needed donations.  This is also a great way to reduce food waste, by providing a valuable service to those in need! Both the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and the Dublin Food Pantry plan critical roles in our communities, ensuring those in need of food are able to recieve it – and that the community as a whole is aware and contributing.

If you are planning a move this summer, or just would like to participate with Moving Ahead Services and Move for Hunger, be sure to get your Move For Hunger food boxes from our office nearest to you!  Our busy movers always have time to swing by and drop off your boxes, or you can pick them up and visit our Willoughby office or our new digs in Columbus. Thanks for supporting Moving Ahead Services as we support Move 4 Hunger!

MAS Helps Providence House Charity

Curious to know how MAS helps Providence House Charity? On Dec. 10, the Moving Ahead Services team did their part by donating their services in the annual Deck the House event put on by Providence House. After all 700 guests filed out of Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Moving Ahead Services team made quick work prepping and loading all twelve trees into our trucks for delivery. These trees are set to be delivered in the next few days. Transporting these extravagantly decorated trees while still assembled was not an easy task.  With six professional movers, the team was able to load up all of the trees within an hour and a half.

Moving Ahead Services and Our Community

Moving Ahead Services believes in giving back to the community, customers, and friends.  After all, you are the reason we have grown over the last ten years! In January, our professionals donated time and resources to an Air Force veteran that was in need of a relocation to better receive the care he needed. The Sandusky Ohio Veteran’s Home opened its doors 125 years ago to provide care for veterans of the Civil War. Today, the Sandusky Veterans home has over 400 residents, and during our visit, we got to see the beautiful Memorial Walkway that was opened in 2002 to honor all men and women that have served our Country.

As a veteran owned business, Moving Ahead Services was honored to be able to provide for such important members of our community. We were able to provide much more than a moving truck and general moving companies’ services!

As a locally operated business moving company, we strive to provide a positive impact on our economy. Our employees are provided the best in training and support, and every dollar spent is kept in the U.S. In addition, our relationships with local businesses and service providers allow us to build upon our customer base and expand our services to meet each and every need.

Providence House Fundraiser

The holidays are a great time of the year, and every year, Moving Ahead Services spends time at the Providence House helping with their Deck the House fundraiser.   http://www.provhouse.org

This year, the Christmas trees were so beautiful! Our favorites were the Mickey Mouse tree and the silver and blue trees. We delivered them to winners of the auction after the Providence House gala.

We always enjoy participating in the Providence House Fundraiser, as it gives us another chance to give back.
